Florins or ‘Two Shillings’ are also known as the ‘two bob bit’. Worth 1/10th of an old pound, they were replaced by the identically sized Ten Pence after decimalisation. Older Florins depicted a crowned rose with a thistle and shamrock on either side and after 1953 they displayed a Tudor rose in the centre surrounded by thistles, shamrocks and leeks.
